Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I ate whatever I wanted — lots of carbs and cheese. I gained about 30 pounds over two years. At that point it started to affect my everyday life. I had no energy, spending many days on the couch if I wasn’t at work. My self-worth had dropped, and I never wanted to be in pictures. It even affected my relationship. I had no confidence, which made me depressed. Consumed by that only made my eating more out of control. It was time to make a serious change for myself.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I inspired myself. I knew I didn’t need to live like this. That somewhere inside of me I had the strength to do better, to feel better about my body. After seeing other people’s results on the 21 Day Fix website, I told myself this could be me. It did take me a few months after that to finally commit. Nevertheless, I was all in!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
The greatest challenge was craving junk food. I loved carbs and and salty foods, and also going out to nice restaurants. I was definitely a food junkie. The 21 Day Fix definitely opened my eyes to different food options. That there were great-tasting healthy foods out there, and I didn’t need to overeat everything I ingested. I now eat smaller portions, eat more healthy, and when I do indulge, I don’t go overboard.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I loved that it taught me the right amounts of everything I should be having. In the past, I would cut my calories, but was still eating more carbs and not enough fruits, veggies, and proteins. 21 Day Fix definitely has me eating a balanced diet every day, and getting the extra nutrients I never got before.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I am very proud of myself for losing 40 pounds. When I started, my goal weight loss was 30 pounds and my dream weight loss was 40 pounds. After a few months, my dream weight loss seemed less like a dream, and more of a realistic goal I could achieve. I’m very happy I pushed through and accomplished it.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
It has changed a lot. I believe this is a lifestyle change. I now crave healthy foods, instead of carbs all the time. I can actually taste the difference when food is over-salted or has too much sugar. Also, I actually look forward to working out multiple times a week. It makes me feel better and happier.
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
It was very helpful in the beginning. I was a little confused at first, but she helped me to understand everything I needed to know about the program. Also, what to expect as my diet and exercise changed.
