Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before Shakeology was added to my life, I was grass in the wind when it came to my nutrition. My workouts in the gym were intense but far from consistent, and even my attitude toward my own life was careless and resentful. I was a discouraged yet optimistic work-in-progress. I was defeated mentally, slightly overweight, and moderately in shape.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
The inspiration to change my life in a more positive way came from my decision to go steady with my girlfriend, and my mother’s battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Still to this day, we uphold our vow to each other to maintain a healthy lifestyle as much as possible, maintaining beneficial nutritional habits and exercising frequently.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
The greatest challenge I faced before beginning the program was myself. Stubbornness, pessimism, and doubt were my most difficult obstacles to overcome. At the time, I lived and breathed in the gym, working out from my own home was a thing of the past and didn’t fit in my comfort zone. Also, in my mind I had this notion that I wasn’t athlete material anymore, my gains in the gym were slow (if not unreachable), and I just didn’t see the results that I was working toward. Completing the 22 Minute Hard Corps and PiYo programs gave me a new sense of respect for my body. Through participating in the exercises, I was able to witness my weaknesses and my strengths. I actually had strengths! I also found that if I encouraged myself more than doubted myself throughout the day, I would press play more often and stay more aware of my nutrition habits. The programs have given me a challenge with attainable results and an outlet to get somewhere I have never been. I only lost 15 pounds but I gained much more!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I really had an itch to try out some yoga practices. I didn’t want to just become more flexible, I wanted to gain more strength in my body, along with power and control. PiYo helped me to breathe through my moves while maintaining firm control over my muscles as a whole.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I greatly reduced my body weight percentage, which in turn was my main goal. I am more limber and flexible as I am able to tell in my stretches and during my workouts. My lower back tends to ache from being on my feet all day, and I’m learning how to properly stretch my body during the PiYo warm-ups.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I have become more ambitious toward my personal goals, more consistent in treating my body well, and better at encouraging people around me.

Shakeology was my tool of choice, and it worked just as effectively as I hoped it would. I was able to lower my body fat percentage, was more ambitious as my energy levels went way up, and as the day came to a close, I found I was able to fall asleep easier. My mood became more cheerful, and my attitude toward my personal goals became more fierce and positive.2
