Beachbody Results: Andrea Lost 60 Pounds in Six Months

Andrea Palazzolo lost 60 lbs. in six months with a variety of Beachbody fitness programs, Shakeology, and the Beachbody Performance supplements. Here’s the story that she shared with the Beachbody Challenge contest.

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I often didn’t go to parties because I felt fat in everything that I put on. In college, I was very active (I played collegiate ultimate frisbee) and therefore was always in shape. Since I started graduate school, the lack of a daily workout and the stress caused me to start gaining weight. I was the heaviest I had ever been. I was so embarrassed by how I looked that I became super self-conscious around other people, and stopped going out in public because I was embarrassed by how I looked in everything I owned.

What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I was not about to let that scale reach 250 lbs., so I decided to make a change! I was also in a very bad place physically and emotionally. I had just gotten out of a relationship, lost my best friends, and was not happy in graduate school. I felt super alone in the world and that I couldn’t control any aspect of my life. I had been watching an acquaintance make progress over time, and it started to really annoy me to the point that I unfollowed her posts. Then, after skipping yet another party and going for a run instead, I decided that it was time to make a change. So I ordered 21 Day Fix and Shakeology, and have never looked back. I’ve been using Beachbody programs ever since. I have completed 21 Day Fix, 21 Day Fix EXTREME, The Master’s Hammer and Chisel, PiYo, Country Heat, and 3 Week Yoga Retreat. I am currently in the middle of FOCUS T25 and Body Beast.

What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
Finding the time to work out was my struggle. I kept finding ways to justify not going to the gym. Being in graduate school, it becomes really easy to let your physical and mental health start to plummet while continuing the mental state that you don’t have enough time to work out. With Beachbody, I didn’t have to go to the gym. I could work out in the morning and then head to work without having to bring clothes or shower stuff to the gym. With the support of the Challenge Group and knowing that I had to check in every day, I started prioritizing my workout and treating it like an event on my calendar that I couldn’t miss.

What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I started 3 Week Yoga Retreat when I was in the middle of Body Beast, because I started getting really tight from the daily lifting and needed some stretching. When I got injured (tore my pectoralis major), I discontinued Body Beast and continued 3 Week Yoga Retreat.3 It was great to gently stretch my shoulder each day. I originally chose 21 Day Fix for the container nutrition program. I have never been successful at diets where you have to count calories or do calculations. I either end up not writing things down cause it’s too much work or just not eating so I don’t have to write things down. I only had to count containers, and I could have whatever was in the list as long as it fit in the containers.

Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
This is just the start of my fitness journey, but here’s a list of the not number things that I achieved (1) I used to have a lot of digestive problems, and those problems are gone completely. (2) I’m normally a coffee drinker to the point that I was pretty dependent on coffee. Now I haven’t had coffee in almost two weeks. I feel energized and awake without it. (3) The workouts are getting easier. I can feel my fitness increasing because of healthy eating and the fact that I work out every day. (4) I sleep better. I used to have lots of problems getting to sleep, and now I’m out like a light when I climb in bed. (5) I met some amazing people (aka all of you) who are in this with me to help me when I’m down and need to be reminded why I do this. (6) I’m much happier with me. (7) I am proud of the progress that I am starting to see and the confidence I have gained. I have had multiple people tell me that the light is back in my eyes again.

How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I feel that I actually learned portion control. The containers are starting to become second nature, and since I never really learned portion control as a child, that’s a huge plus for me. I also don’t feel like I need to drink coffee every day. I have way more confidence in myself. I feel like I have grown so much mentally, physically, and emotionally. Beachbody reminded me that it’s possible to make new friends at any stage in life and that the friends don’t always have to be in your immediate location. I have learned to control my emotions, and I stopped defining my happiness by my success in graduate school. I can finally do a pull-up (and I have seen other physical gains as well like weight loss and strength gains).

How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
My Challenge Group was (and still is) amazing. They are the most supportive group of people to have on this journey with me. Knowing that they expect to hear about my workout each day and my check-in about my food for the day really forced me to buckle down and get it done in the beginning when I really wanted to quit. Now we have each other’s backs and support others through different sticking points in the program. At the same time, I started to feel that I could really make a difference in the lives of other people as I could see myself starting to impact this amazing group of ladies that I didn’t even know. We are all at different points in our lives, but we were all working toward a common goal of building a better version of ourselves. It’s a great feeling to have people on the same journey by your side the whole time! We call ourselves sisters in sweat as by this point we have become family.

How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
My Coach has been amazing. I don’t think I could have found a better match through the customer lead program. I think that she joined Beachbody for a lot of the same reasons that I did and has been my rock through the entire process. I would not be where I am now without her support. From Day 1 she was telling me that I was gonna kill it, and I think having someone in your corner believing in you is huge! She also did an amazing job of helping me work through some tough emotional situations going above and beyond what was required of her as a Beachbody Coach. I think I have made my first lifelong friend through Beachbody.

How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, or digestion/regularity?
Shakeology was also amazing. I saw all of the aforementioned benefits from including it in my daily schedule. I am no longer a coffee drinker, which I never thought would happen as I used to drink at least a cup a day. Even when I am on-the-go, Shakeology helps me stay on track by giving me a healthy on-the-go option (that can vary depending on the flavor or the additives).2

I loved using BOD for the 3 Week Yoga Retreat. Being able to take my workouts anywhere was super awesome. Even when I forgot to take my computer home from work, I could stream the workouts on my phone!
