Beachbody Results: Collin Lost 102 Pounds

Collin Mcquade lost 102 lbs. with a variety of Beachbody fitness programs, Shakeology, and the Beachbody Performance supplements. Here’s the story that he shared with the Beachbody Challenge contest.

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before Beachbody, I was your typical “fat kid,” making jokes and always being funny to disguise the fact that I didn’t feel good about myself. I was eating things in quantities that no one should. I didn’t pay attention to my body and the harm I was causing at all. I didn’t feel good going out. I didn’t feel like going to the gym. I was always into sports, but sports became increasingly difficult the more out of shape I became. I tried a bunch of different programs in the past but none of them worked, and I did not commit to them. I didn’t think there was another way to live. I didn’t know a way to change my entire lifestyle that seemed realistic. I expected to live that way forever and not change because “I couldn’t.” Doctors told me I was unhealthy and family told me I was unhealthy. But it didn’t matter, because until Beachbody I didn’t know of something that could drastically change someone’s entire life. I didn’t know how to make a miracle happen so I stopped searching.

What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
My dad was the greatest person in my life. My hero. I saw no wrong in him and everything he did was perfect. When your version of the perfect person dies due to a heart attack brought on by his diabetes, it forces you to look at things in a different light. I am like my father in every way imaginable. I knew that if I didn’t make a change, I would be like him in that regard as well. There was no way I was living past 60 at the rate I was going. I saw poor diet take “Superman” away. It was the truest form of Kryptonite I had ever seen. I knew then and there that I had to make a change to save my own life, but I didn’t fully know how to do it. I met my Coach in June of 2015, and he mentioned that there was a program that could change my life and that I would lose over 100 pounds. If I said I believed him, I would be lying… he was right. One program got results, then another, then another, and it motivated me to keep going. #DoItForDad was the motto of this journey, and it pushed me each day.

What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
My biggest challenge was portion control and finding a workout program that kept me focused and didn’t allow me to get bored. I ate quantities that I shouldn’t have eaten. I needed to control portions and become committed to a community and a program. Beachbody gave me all of those things, with Challenge Groups to keep me accountable, a Coach to work out with and help me along the way, as well as countless other Coaches and friends made to push me and help with the process. Beachbody showed me portion control with 21 Day Fix containers from Autumn. This program taught me how to eat again. It broke the hold that food had over me and got me excited to work out again. With modifying workouts, it showed me that it was okay to “not be there yet” and that I would get there. When I would start losing interest in the program, the 60 days would be up and I could switch to something else and continue with my passion.

What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
The best part about the programs I have done is how they have complimented each other and me as well. MAX:30 was exactly what I needed to start. It was perfect to see that I could modify and that it was OK to not be able to make it all the way without stopping. It was support that I needed, and Shaun T gave me that support. After MAX:30, I did Hammer and Chisel and loved the weight room again. I showed myself that I could lift weights without gaining weight. MAX:30 will always be my go-to program, however, as I saw the most results from that.

Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
Losing 100 pounds was something that I thought was meant for fairytales. It didn’t seem real at first. It was one of those things that you hear about but that you couldn’t imagine doing. I did it… I met my goal. I lost 100 lbs. Almost one-third of my body weight is gone now, and I am the healthiest I have ever been. My cholesterol and blood pressure numbers are all great, and my doctors are amazed. They can’t believe the transformation that I have accomplished in a little over a year. My body has changed completely. I wear a size Large shirt now. It is a big difference than the 2X and 3X shirts I used to wear. I feel amazing… I wake up every day with energy, motivation, and purpose, and it is thanks to the amazing results I have achieved with Beachbody.

How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
My life is completely different. I feel different… I am different… the shirt sizes, pants, and scales are all just part of it. The way I feel about myself is the amazing part. Also, the fact that I coached my grandfather, who is 79 years old, to lose 40 pounds. I am changing the world around me, because I decided to change myself. Beachbody has changed my entire life, and I am forever grateful. I have a new lifestyle due to Beachbody. I am healthy… I am not going anywhere, and my health is where it should be. I am continuing to grow! This is not the end of the line for me and that is the most important part… This is my life, and the prize is the process! I am loving the new me.

How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Challenge Groups are so important for keeping people on track for their goals. They hold people accountable, and they give you a support structure. A difficult day will happen on a journey like this, but it is support from your team and Challenge Groups that keeps you honest and moving forward.

How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
Chris showed me the way. He started me and supported me. He gave me tough love when I needed it, and he praised my success along the way… He has been one of the biggest pieces to this puzzle of success for me. Also, Robb Pearson has been a very influential Coach in my life. Chris has continued through the good and the bad to support me and my goals of living a happier life through fitness.

How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, or digestion/regularity?
All of the benefits listed apply to me. I am sleeping through the night and my energy, clarity, and mood have all improved, and it is all because of the magic formula which is Shakeology. Clean eating and hard work — that’s all it takes to get results and live a life that you want to be living.2

Tell us about your experience with Beachbody On Demand. If applicable, how has it helped you achieve your goals?
Beachbody On Demand made it so that fitness was accessible everywhere that I was. I didn’t have to be at the gym or go somewhere to get my programs. I could be in the living room and work out as if Shaun, Sagi, Autumn, or Tony was right there with me. BOD is a huge piece of my success, because it allowed me to work out when it was convenient… That is half the battle to daily workout regiments.
