Body Beast Results: Benjamin Got Absolutely Ripped in 180 Days!

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
In 2008, I was pretty fit overall. In December of 2008, my wife and I had our first child. My priorities in life changed at that time, and for the right reasons. However, I progressively began slipping downhill little by little with my fitness and overall health. Around May of 2016, I had enough. I needed something to motivate me to stay on the path and make fitness a part of my life again.

What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
When I started looking at family vacation pictures and I didn’t recognize myself. I began deleting a lot of vacation pictures of myself in a swimsuit. I just didn’t want to look at myself. When I started Body Beast, quite honestly, I was too embarrassed to take a “before” picture. I just couldn’t take the picture and look at it because I was not happy with what I had become. Now I look at my “after” photo, and it keeps me motivated to do it all over again.

What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
The biggest challenge I faced before starting the program was diet. Prior to 2008, I was a very skinny guy! I never had to worry about diet. I just focused on exercise. As I got older, I neglected my diet. During my health risk assessments at work, I started to notice that my cholesterol was higher, and I was starting to gain a lot of fat. This made me workout harder, but I still ate like crap. The most important thing that I’ve learned throughout this entire process is that the workout is the easy part. It’s the 23 hours that surround that workout that is the hard part.

What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
Not only did I need to make fitness a part of my life again, I needed the strength training aspect of the Body Beast program. I serve on a SWAT team, and strength training is an essential part of training because we work and train with 60+ pounds of gear. Before Body Beast, I had serious thoughts of stepping down from the team after 9 years because of the pain I was having in my back and shoulders. I thought I was just getting old and it was time to move on. After completing the first phase of Body Beast, I realized that I’m not too old. I was just out of shape. When training in full kit now, I can go longer and harder that ever before.

Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
Being on a full program from start to finish, I could easily see the muscles that I was neglecting throughout the years prior to starting. Body Beast was the perfect mix of a full body program focusing on strength training, but also incorporating the appropriate amount of cardio at the same time. The overall feeling of being fit again has completely changed my confidence, my mood, and my energy. My kids have someone to look up to now and actually want to workout with me, and I love it when they ask to feel my muscles! It doesn’t just make me feel physically stronger. It makes me feel like a stronger father… someone they can look up to.

How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
Besides changing my everyday diet, and eating much cleaner, I have made fitness a genuine part of my life again. I have no more excuses. Going to the gym is just part of my day now, and it will be scheduled in. It sounds strange, but the rest days are the hardest days for me now! I just feel like I’m slacking on those days.
