Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I remember being self-conscious in a bathing suit since I was 10. At age 25, and weighing in at 260 pounds, I was motivated to work on myself. I did P90 with Tony and lost 60 pounds, but then got pregnant. I lost weight again after having my son using P90X, but then became pregnant with my daughter. Now I am done having kids and can finally claim my body.4 A friend suggested we do a weight-loss competition, so I organized it and ran it. I used the 21 Day Fix meal guide as well as the workouts to get myself started.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I didn’t feel good about myself but, until I was done having kids, I had a hard time pushing myself to strive to reach big goals. Now that I’m done having kids, I was ready but did still need the kick in the pants to get me going.4 I’m a competitive person so the suggestion of a competition was definitely what motivated me from the get-go. Now that I’m coaching, this is how I begin my coaching relationship with people (introducing them to the weight-loss challenge I run). Beachbody provides the tools to use for success in these challenges!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
I think the biggest challenge I’ve faced is how much of a mental struggle it is to get yourself on track. This is especially true when it comes to what you’re eating. It was such a great learning experience for me to use the containers and learn about portion size. I was WAY off with my portion sizes before this. Another challenge was stopping the hold that sugar had on me. It is wild how much power sugar has over your brain and breaking out of that pattern of needing sugar as a reward was a huge success for me. Definitely being able to stick to a workout calendar helps me stay on track. I want to have good results and pictures for “before” and “after” the programs. I know that if I don’t keep my diet on point, I won’t have good results in those pictures. I also think that Shakeology has been a huge help when it comes to keeping sugar cravings at bay and from keeping me from binging due to low blood sugar. It helps keep me feeling full.2
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I like how varied the workouts are with the 21 Day Fix. Some I love and some I don’t, but I know they are all good for me. On the days I didn’t love the workouts, I knew that I could look forward to the next day. I’m not a huge fan of straight cardio so in comparison to programs like INSANITY, 21 Day Fix worked well for my needs.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I’ve done two rounds of 21 Day Fix and a round of PiYo. I think the 21 Day Fix got me off to a really great start. I had to follow the modifier for almost everything. Then PiYo really toned me. My core felt incredibly strong. I recently completed another round of 21 Day Fix, and I barely had to follow the modifier at all! I loved seeing this progress!
