Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
In September 2015, I was introduced to Beachbody after falling into deep feelings of depression. I was going to school to become a pharmacist (because my parents wanted me to), working two jobs, and caring for my disabled brother. I was taking care of so many things around me, but I wasn’t taking care of me! After completing a round of 21DFX, and losing almost 10 pounds, I fell in love with the program and decided to become a Coach. Beachbody Coaching was everything I needed in my life. I became completely immersed into the Beachbody culture and was the happiest I had ever been in my life. Six months later, I dropped out of pharmacy school to pursue Coaching full-time, but was kicked out of my parents’ house for doing so. I was then forced to move from the lively suburbs of Detroit to a small town in rural Ohio with my boyfriend, where I knew no one! I became extremely unhappy again and gained nearly 30 pounds in three months. As a fitness coach, I felt like a total fraud…
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
After noticing a huge change in my behavior and overall enthusiasm, the women of my team really rallied behind me to help get me back on track. Whenever I felt homesick or alone, I’d drive four hours to Grand Rapids, MI, and spend the weekend with my Upline Coaches, Kendra McMurphy and Anita Miron. I didn’t know either of these women before becoming a Coach, but they quickly became the big sisters I never had. Through the darkest moment of my life, they poured love into my cup and reminded me why I originally fell in love with this community. I also found a lot of inspiration in Top 10 Elite Coach, Raina O’Dell. I followed her incredible fitness journey on Facebook and remember thinking: “Gosh, it’s so simple. Just follow a program from start to finish!” So that is what I eventually did.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I liked the fact that the workouts were short, the meal plan was easy and affordable to follow, and that every single day was something different!
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
After completing my programs, I feel so much stronger and more confident in everything I do. I’m not only physically stronger, but I’m mentally stronger too. I can carry my groceries into my apartment in one trip. I can carry a full basket of laundry up and down the stairs without losing my breath or asking for help. I can endure difficult situations because I know that pain and discomfort are only temporary. Of my physical results, I am the most proud of my abs! I’ve never had abs like I do now!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
Everything is just better. I still have obstacles and I still have struggles, but everything just feels better when you’re fit. I still have good days and bad days at work. But now when I come home after a long day and change into my pajamas, I don’t cringe at the body I see in the mirror! Now that I love my body again, my relationship is also completely different! I feel beautiful and attractive again, making me a happier and more loving person to be around. I haven’t had any issues with my feelings of depression since June. A healthy body really does lead to a healthy mind.
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
When I first kicked off my journey in June, I asked my Coach to keep me extra accountable, no matter what! I received a phone call every single morning at 5 AM from my Coach, making sure I was up and getting my workout in!
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, or digestion/regularity?
Energize and Shakeology were key to my success! I am not a morning person, so drinking Energize right when I wake up is exactly what I need to get going before my workout. Shakeology has been crucial to my success as well. For a couple of weeks in August, I was taking advice from a bodybuilding Coach and his advice actually set me back. I was told that in order to reach my goals, I had to stop drinking Shakeology because there were “too many carbs.” For a week, I switched to a protein shake, and it made me so sick! I was exhausted, I never felt like I was recovered from the previous day’s workout, and every night I was vomiting up that shake. The following week, I ignored all of that advice, started back on Shakeology, and felt 1,000x better again!2
Tell us about your experience with Beachbody On Demand. If applicable, how has it helped you achieve your goals?
I love, love, loveeeee BOD! I like the convenience of working out from home, but occasionally I just need to get out of the house. I love taking BOD to the gym and streaming my workouts straight to my phone! I also really enjoy trying new programs and becoming more familiar with the Beachbody library.
