Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I was severely overweight and very unmotivated to do any physical activity. I would basically go to work, come home, and go to sleep. If I did attempt to be physically active, I would either end up with an injury or my body was so overused I would be sore for days after. I was a bigger, muscle-bound guy during my time in the US Military and when that muscle turned to fat, it became harder and harder to do the things I wanted to.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
As I was nearing my 40th birthday, I was the heaviest and most sedentary I had ever been in my life. I was tired of being overweight and of buying bigger clothes. I knew I had to make a lifestyle change so I could be myself again.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
Commitment. I was good at starting something up but lacked discipline to keep it going. I wanted to lose weight, be athletic again and make an overall lifestyle change, but my biggest goal was just to finish the entire 90 days. I knew that if I could finish the program, I would get the results I wanted because of Beachbody’s reputation for success. Tony Horton inspired me to “Just keep pressing play”, “Do your best and forget the rest”, and to “Just do what you can do and bring it”!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I liked the way that everything was planned out for me. I liked the combination of weights and cardio also.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
The first 3 weeks I was exhausted and sore, but I was determined to continue and believed in the program. As week 4 came to an end, I noticed more definition in my triceps and shoulders. My wife started to notice results in my stomach area and lats during this time. She always says she can see more results than I can, but I definitely feel the difference in my body. I lost 30 pounds with P90X and my body fat went from roughly 35% to 16–17% with calipers.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I have an intensity about me now. I feel like I can accomplish anything. I have signed up to take on 3 Spartan Races this year, which I know I could not have done prior to P90X. I can also play full-court basketball and not be lagging behind or feel like I have put my body through the ringer when I am done.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Accountability. They answered any questions I had and gave me motivation and advice.

He answered any questions that I had and kept me motivated and inspired through his posts.
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, digestion/regularity?
Shakeology was great. When I took it, I knew that I was putting quality ingredients in my body. It helped keep me regular.2
